Football matches in Akureyri

The catalog city Akureyri covers KA and Þór Akureyri. KA's notice of 1 July 2018 places the home ground of the men's team in the Pepsi-deild karla across Glerárgata from the restaurant Greifinn and opposite the pitch then called Akureyrarvöllur. The same notice limits the naming agreement to two years and uses the new name Greifavöllurinn, so it does not show which name is on the gate on 22 September 2026. The Þór Akureyri area page names the club house Hamar by Skarðshlíð, 603 Akureyri, and separates Þórsvöllur, a football and athletics field used for training, from Ásinn, the artificial-grass pitch marked as the competition ground. The map labels also include Skarðshlíð and Hörgárbraut. On these pages the two clubs do not share one ground.

Plan a visit in the city

First settle whether the match is KA or Þór Akureyri, because the opened pages lead to different streets. For KA, the concrete detail in the club notice is Glerárgata, across from the restaurant Greifinn. Read Greifavöllurinn as the name in the 1 July 2018 notice, whose agreement was limited to two years. For Þór Akureyri, go to Hamar by Skarðshlíð, 603 Akureyri, and use the area page to see whether the pitch you need is Þórsvöllur or Ásinn. That page calls Þórsvöllur a training field and Ásinn the artificial-grass competition pitch. A current line for the specific match still outranks that general description.

What to distinguish in this travel scope

KA and Glerárgata

KA's football-department notice of 1 July 2018 says the home ground of the men's team in the Pepsi-deild karla would from then on be called Greifavöllurinn. The restaurant Greifinn is on the other side of Glerárgata, opposite Akureyrarvöllur. The first match under the new name was that same day against Breiðablik at 16:00. The notice limits the agreement with Greifinn to two years. Glerárgata is the durable place detail on this page, and the naming is not automatically the position on 22 September 2026.

Þór Akureyri, Skarðshlíð, and Ásinn

The Þór area page names Hamar by Skarðshlíð, 603 Akureyri, and the telephone number 461-2080. Item 3 in the legend is Þórsvöllur, described as a football and athletics field and as a training ground. Item 4 is Ásinn, described as a football pitch with artificial grass and as the competition pitch. The legend also marks Skarðshlíð as item 9 and Hörgárbraut as item 10. Following only the name Þórsvöllur leads, on this page, to the training field and not automatically to the pitch marked for competition.

Separate grounds in Akureyri

KA describes its own home ground by Glerárgata and the restaurant Greifinn across that street. Þór Akureyri describes a different site at Hamar by Skarðshlíð, with Þórsvöllur and Ásinn as two different pitches and with Hörgárbraut on the map. Neither opened page says the clubs use the same ground or the same entrance. A KA match is not planned from Skarðshlíð, and a Þór Akureyri match is not planned from Glerárgata alone.
